The event celebrating 100 years since the establishment of the Hellenic Veterinary Medical Society took place in a warm and deeply moving atmosphere.
The President, Ms. Maria Linou, welcomed all guests and declared the event open. Subsequently, the General Secretary of the Board of Directors, Mr. Konstantinos Chandras, presented the history of the HVM S from its establishment to the present day.
Afterwards, honorary plaques were awarded to the former presidents of the HVM S for their invaluable and long-standing contribution.
The honorees were:
– Ms. Aikaterini Loukaki, Veterinarian, Doctor of the School of Medicine, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA)
– Mr. Nikolaos Papaioannou, Professor at the Department of Veterinary Medicine, School of Health Sciences, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH)
– Mr. Apostolos Rantsios, Veterinarian, Doctor of the Department of Veterinary Medicine, School of Health Sciences, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH)
– Mr. Benjamin Albalas, Graduate and Doctor of the Department of Veterinary Medicine, School of Health Sciences, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
The HVM S also honored the memory of two deceased former presidents, Spyridon Kyriakis and Theodoros Ananiadis.
Finally, the event concluded with a round table discussion on the topic: “100 Years + ..: Prospects and Challenges of Veterinary Science in Greece”
